What is a Special Economic Zone ?
A Special Economic Zone is specified area in the territory of a country administrated under its current laws and regulations , while the sovereignty of the country is preserved. Such zones are established mostly at airports , seaports and islands and people handle goods from to it through the air ,sea and land for export or re-export , free from custom duties . Usually , the goods coming there undergo production and value-adding processes to be exported to the country of origin or a third destination. Special Economic Zones are in fact a collection of free trade, industrial and service Zones. Such zones are in fact regarded as the oldest , and, in a sense, the most comprehensive and the most modern form of free zone in the world.
Bushehr Special Economic Zone :
In the direction of realization , apart of objectives and theories of Islamic Republic of Iran in optimal use of the existing potentials in the productive Bushehr Province, ultilizing its special strategic situation, especially the port in the country and region , the supreme Board of Iranian free and commercial Zones, presided by Iranian President , approved the proposal for the establishment of Bushehr Special Zones , presided by Iranian President ,approved the proposal for the establishment of Bushehr Special Economic Zone on… then Bushehr Reconstruction and development Co. was assigned as a executive body of that immense national plan in the region. Therefore It immediately began its activity for the study and execution of the plan. It has achieve dramatic and significant results so far.
Attraction – and the presence of – over dozens of investors who are active in different industrial ,production and services sectors, the significant physical progress in the Special Zone , provision of all infrastructure and public utility facilities, including water ,electricity, tel., road, landscaping , installation of the BTS mobile system for improvement of telecommunication in the region , etc. , are good evidence that the local management , advisors and personnel are going seriously towards the specified goals such that the economists see a clear and striking horizon for the region.
The purpose of establishment of Bushehr Special Economic Zone :
As mentioned above, Bushehr Port has potentials necessary for an Economic Development.Availability of facilities such as long marine boundaries along with sophisticated port facilities , immense maritime industries and the potential of their being extended , regular and long time communication with Persian Gulf States , a young population pursuing education and absorption of 5000 college students to the local higher education centers each year, have led to regarding industrial development of the province. Establishment of Bushehr Special Economic Zone not only makes it possible to invest in different parts of the Province and those adjacent to it, and helps the trend of export processing extension , but also can provide the means for absorbing invesments by Persian Gulf States and ultimately increase non-oil exports.
